FELIX

My phone rang, instantly making my heart race. My father wouldn’t be calling unless something was wrong. He knew I was tracking and would not want to distract me.

“Felix, you better come back. Something is wrong with Jasira,” he said, his voice riddled with worry.

“What do you mean?” I pressed. All he could tell me, though, was that she wasn’t injured. I shifted immediately, knowing that I would be faster this way. I wasted no time getting to my mate. It had been 45 minutes since the call. My body was riddled with anxiety when I got closer to her emotions coming through our mate bond. I could feel her desperation as I entered the room. My father stood guard of our bedroom door, Rebecca and Valentina were also there.

“Dr. Rebecca could not look at her. She wouldn’t let anyone in,” he claimed.

He stepped aside, allowing me to open the door. A growl escaped my little mate, who was clearly not herself. Her fangs were extended along with her claws, but her growling stopped the moment she recognized me.

“Felix,” she whimpered, my heart breaking at the sound of her distress.

“Yes, I am here,” I purred, approaching her slowly. She visibly relaxed the closer I became. I took her in my arms, allowing her to breathe me in. She nipped at my body, leaving love bites in several places. Her arousal was thick in the air, making my wolf go crazy. I purred, calming her until she was more Jasira than her wolf. “What is going on, my little mate?” I asked, trying to restrain my wolf from taking over.

“I don’t know, my body is on fire still, it’s better, but it hurts,” she whined.

“I am going to call the doctor in to look at you. You will behave, do you understand me?” I said, unleashing my alpha authority. She huffed her displeasure but allowed the doctor to enter. I held her tightly as Rebecca examined her. Jasira went back and forth between growling and apologizing.

“I know what is causing this. Jasira is approaching her first heat,” she concluded. My mouth fell open in shock. Usually, this didn’t happen so suddenly after the first shift.

“She just shifted, that shouldn’t be happening yet. Right?” I asked, hoping the doctor could explain.

“Not typically this soon, it usually happens three months after a female finds or claims a mate.” She paused, clearly thinking. “I think this is because she has kept her wolf at bay for so long. Usually, a female wolf starts puberty around sixteen elemental wolves or not. That is when mood swings typically begin to present themselves. However, they increase right before her first heat cycle. If a she wolf finds her mate before or around eighteen, they usually have their first cycle three months later. If not, it can be six months before she presents.” She states.

“Why now, after everything she has already been through?” I question, holding Jasira tighter as she jerks in pain.

“I wish I could tell you, but I suspect it is due to the supermoon being so close.
